Proud to be a heart nurse!

For all of you that don't already know...I am a NURSE! I have always had a nurses intuition and an innate feeling for helping others for as long as I can remember. I am one of those people who has not worked a day in my life because I absolutely love what I do and don't consider that "work". I am a heart nurse that helps people in potentially the worst of circumstances...and for some, the best wake up calls!
February is heart awareness month and I received my second nursing pin of my career (not to mention that everyone I worked with also received one :) ! ) I especially love it because it is also the color of my birthstone and symbolizes something I care so passionately about! I wear it proudly on my name badge and it reminds me daily that I indeed have the "best job in America"!

Paige goes to preschool!

Upon dropping Piper off a preschool today, we came to find out that one of her teachers is sick and they need a parent to stay! Just my luck, the only day we are late for school and all the other parents had prior commitments! Good news for Paige, because she ALSO got to stay and go to preschool for the day!
I think she wanted me also to go home because she kept blowing me kisses and saying "bye mommy" as she colored. I think I have a more difficult time letting my children go then they do. They want mom to leave while their at school and dad to go back to work when Katie's here! I guess this is a GOOD thing...from what I'm told!
The second we got home Paige ran for the tape so she also could display her artwork in the kitchen like her older sis! Good times!

Passport to my heart!

Chris was absolutely insistent that us girls go get our passport pictures yesterday at Costco (a surprise family vacation? Who knows?)
Piper made Paige go first, she told the picture lady that she "had to apply her lipstick" (Tinkerbell lip gloss we gave her for Christmas).
Paige didn't like taking her picture (big surprise),
and I almost broke my back trying to situate her on my knee and stay out of the picture.

You know how chaotic Costco can be on a Sunday, especially in the passport/hot dog line!

Continue my inner succulence journey...

Today was my long awaited hair appointment (aka therapy) with my beautiful beautician Alicia. And again I struggle with the inner demons and whether to step outside the box...moral of the story here's my 2 1/2 inches shorter and a bottle of peroxide journey to succulence!
What do you think?

tattoo's & tutu's

Payday is finally here and we got the girls tutu's for dancing and playing around in. Piper absolutely loves hers, and pretty much slept in it! Paige loved it in the store, but as soon as we got it home wanted nothing to do with it. I guess it will hang in the closet until she is ready to wear it!
Also, check out how cute the fairy tattoos the girls sport around! What a great combo, huh? Tattoos and tutu's...my kind of girls! :)

feeling a little bit loafy!

I have been reading this women's empowerment (aka self help) book, and absolutely love it! This woman is absolutely awesome and her eccentricity is great. "Live a wild, vulnerable life. Let us see you, laughing loudly in public, walking flamboyantly, and wearing colors that don't match." -Sark

So I have decided to dab deep down in my own self to find my own "true" being. As most of you know, I love shoes, purses and accessories (the funner the better), but have always been a little reluctant to wear most of them! I am trying to live a little "outside the box", and be more comfortable with "just me".

These are some of the most recent shoe finds, that I proudly wear with outfits that kind of don't match and just for fun! To tell you the truth, my outlook and attitude on life is so much better (not to mention the compliments, fun conversations, and friends that I meet)!

"So, let's risk wearing something that's a bit "too much", laughing "too much", and loving "too much"."-Sark

socks & ponytails!

I am missing my sweet, adorable 4 year old...has anyone seen her? She hates to wear socks, comb her hair, wear ponytails, brush her teeth, and the occasional pair of jeans is just too "buggy". She loves her sister Paige, doggy Baxter, pop tarts, balloons, painting her fingernails and fairies.
For the past 3 days we have been a sock wearing, ponytail sporting, brushing twice daily family...hey wait a minute, this new Piper might be a pretty good deal!

Knock your socks off!

Piper has been begging and begging to go outside and "teach Paige how to ride a bike" (I really just think SHE wants to go ride bikes) and after she came to us and PROMISED she'd wear socks, how could we refuse. (Long story short...Piper hates socks and everyday I pick her up from preschool I am handed a pair of her socks from the teacher and am told they are just too "buggy".)

Everything went really well...Chris got some of the garage clean, I got a vitamin D fix, some cute pics of the girls, and hopefully they will go to bed a little early after a tiring day outside!

Since we only have 1 helmet, Paige was able to improvise with Pipers basket (again, I don't think she liked that very much)! And did I mention we only have 1 bell? I guess some gift ideas for the Eater Bunny!

After 2 crashes, the first being Paige "I fine" and then the second hand injury-Piper ( refer to top right picture)...it was time to come in for the evening!

We're so glad Baxter doesn't have doggy germs, because he sure gives a lot of kisses!

Valentines Day...early!

We decided to have our annual Valentines pizza dinner tonight (and maybe go out tomorrow without the kids)! We got such nice cards and yummy candy and Chris surprised me with a gift certificate for a massage and facial (from the Chrysalis)!
P.S. He loved his cologne, but jokingly laughed some snide remark about smelling like Austin Powers and me wanting to have an affair with an English bloke!
~Happy Valentine's Day...early!

Eat your heart out!

Piper brought home the most beautiful valentine card from preschool yesterday, and I was so excited to open it and put it on the mantle until she informed me that "it was for Daddy"! Green with jealousy, I asked her why she made one for him and not me? She stated politely "because he comes home from work"! I started to explain to Piper that I also come home from work, but it is when she and Paige are sleeping...but then I stopped myself to let Chris really enjoy this time being the center of attention. I guess I cannot keep my little dollies all to myself for the rest of their lives!
Katie also made the girls these CUTE valentines, including Mommy! So Chris...eat your heart out!

Happy Birthday Jason!

Happy Birthday Jason!

Another day in paradise!

If I started to tell you how this morning went you wouldn't believe me! Here's the jist... fighting over Paige's week old birthday balloon, Baxter eating the only Pop tart, and it was snowing (again) outside!

Dirty in a clean kind of way!

Since my husband does not read my blog I can post his Valentines Day present...without him knowing what I got him!
Every year at this time we buy each other a new fragrance for "heart day" in hopes we can rekindle our love by being absolutely irresistible to one another. However, in the past I think I completely gave him the wrong impressions and for some reasons, he thinks I want a new husband/lover from a completely different ethnicity. For example cologne's in the past include:
  1. Gucci for Men (can be interpreted as feeling a bit “Chinese” as it evokes dried spicy Chinese mandarin skins ).
  2. Herrera (just in it's name signifies a Spanish flair).
  3. Pleasures (don't ask how he took this one)!
So off to Macy's us girls went to find the perfect men's cologne that wouldn't offend him and he wouldn't take the "wrong way". (By the way the people at Macy's are soooo very helpful when it comes to perfume)! The young, very well dressed gentleman suggested this new men's line from Juicy Couture, that smelled oh so wonderful....but guess what the name is??? Dirty English...what? Yes, this is the name alright! But it smelled so wonderful. So that's what we got-Dirty English.
When we came home I had to google it to find out the meaning, and to be brutally honest, I shouldn't have. It is characterized as being dirty in a clean irresistible way, "manarchy" in a bottle, and "any self-respecting bad boy will want to wear it."
So, not only will my husband think I am going to leave him for a "bad boy in a dirty kind of way", but he again will tease me for the next year until this time approaches again! (By golly, at least he'll smell great!)

P.S. We Love You!

Thanks to Treasury of Memories, the fam and I were able to finish "love letters" (aka valentines) for school and the Grammies this weekend! The first couple were REALLY fun until the girls got bored and Chris decided it was funner to go poop scoop in the back yard! Thank God that Mom is a real trooper and was able to finish all of them just in time to mail out and make it to their final destinations.
P.S. Grammies you should receive yours by Saturday, February 14th! We love you!

King bed fit for two princesses!

It finally arrived-our KING bed, and there were two anxious little princesses there to try to see if they could feel the pea!

Round two will be very interesting trying to get these girls out of our bed again, especially because there is now enough room for everyone!

Love Stinks!

There is no other way to say it...Love Stinks! As I am writing this all I can think of is Adam Sandler serenading the crowd in the "Wedding Singer" and thoughts of Valentines Day being just next week! How apropos?

We met, fell in love, got married, had 2 babies, and then what? No one really prepares you for the next (lets say) 70+years with this other person after the "I do's"! No one prepares you for the (lets say) not so great characteristics...the boyisms, smells, awkward encounters, social inappropriate behavior, and not so funny jokes! But, then I think to myself what I would be missing if someone did prepare me for all the bad things.

Chris brought home the single most beautiful rose today on his way home from work...and again I was swept away by it's beauty and his beauty! "Being married is falling in love with same person over and over and over again"!
~Happy Weekend!

Fairy Shots :(

As I stated earlier, we had Paige's 2 year old well child checkup today, and unbeknownst to Piper both of them got SHOTS!

Apparently, the flu season hasn't hit us as of yet...but it's going to and after spending 4 days in the hospital last spring with Paige we decided to opt for flu shots!

So moral of the story, we stopped by Target on the way home and now own two new fairy additions to the Barbie Castle!

Dog(blog) tired!

Yes, I admit it...I suffer from blog abandonment. Not because I do not want to post pictures, updates (complaints), and journal entries, but because I am dog tired and just plain out of ideas!

Yesterday was my third workday in a row, second night of call in a row, and I was at work until 2:00am last night...but who's counting? I am going to TJ Maxx for some retail therapy and then off to the doctor for Paige's 2 year old checkup. After that, I will be refreshed and can commit more to my blog duties with more of a open mind and better attitude!

~Happy Thursday!

Mile Worm!

Paige's new inch worm she got for her birthday!

For being an inch worm, she and Piper have rode it nonstop since she opened it, hence making it a "mile" worm!
