let it rain.

I have decided that this year I am going to welcome the cold rainy weather with a better attitude and be a little bit better prepared (hence the new polka dot rain boots for the girls). I guess it's time for mother nature to take a break from all the beautiful weather and welcome it too. Hey, who knows what the rain could bring?

I can't remember the last time I...

...laughed so hard I almost cried.
...went to bed with sand in my toes.
...drank coffee while watching the sun rise off the ocean.
...shopped til I dropped with my girlfriends.
...heard the Jimmy Hendrix song "Foxy Lady".
...rode on a ferry.
...snuck too many people in one hotel room.
...ate chicken wings for breakfast.

This weekend I spent with some of my favorite girlfriends doing all this and having the time of my life!! Thanks girls for all the memories!

Our little prima ballerina!

Today we were invited to the last 15 minutes of Piper's dance class for a mini presentation of all the fun things they are learning. We thought that the Grammies would also enjoy a little sneak peak. She is the one in the second row with the pink headband!

Focus on the prize!

Now that the girls tooth fairy pillows arrived this afternoon, Piper has been doing some hardcore wiggling in hopes for a visit this weekend! Paigey just thinks her pillow is a purse, which is okay because she is a little too young to be losing teeth. Anywho, aren't they just adorable?

Check~up & Shots!

Piper had her 5 year old check~up today weighing in at a whopping 41.5 #'s (60%) and 43.75 inches (75%) tall. And with flu season quickly approaching, she walked away with 4 shots (counting some of her immunizations). Paigey also got one too...NO fun!!! However, it was fun going to pick out new tutu's that nicely hid the band~aid battle wounds from the doctor, making everything better!
Hopefully a healthy flu season at our house! :)

The return of the "car coat".

Car Coat~ {(noun) pronunciation: kär kōt } a grab~out~of ~the~door must need accessory for the busy, modern woman/mother on the go. A finishing piece for those days that you cannot leave your car, but still need to look put together from the waist up (i.e. still in your jammies). There is no such thing as too many.

Here is one from Athleta (www.athleta.com) that has caught my eye that I would one day like to add to my fall/winter collection.

Peach & Blueberry Panna Cotta

I must confess...I did NOT make this dessert...Traders Joe's did (but the blueberries did come from my backyard), so I CAN take partial credit, right?
Anyway, it is a great dessert if you can still find blueberries and peaches (FYI: good batch at Trader Joe's) in this early (80 degree) fall weather!!

I didn't want to, but something told me I had to!

I debated long and hard today whether or not to post the leaked third trailer to the much anticipated Twilight New Moon premiere mainly because most of you probably think this twi~mom has gone over the deep end (to be brutally honest, I didn't know there was a third until I overheard someone talking at the beauty salon this morning...I swear). But something was telling me otherwise when I stumbled across a new color lipstick from Clinique (Twilight Nude) and a brand of sweaters (Ruby Moon) during my errands today. And yes, I do know that they are fictional characters, but thought that some of the other Twilight fans I know would also enjoy this fun little sneak peak.

We remember!

It was eight years ago (my final semester of nursing school) that I sat in Advanced Medical/Surgical nursing watching as the 2nd tower of the World Trade Center came crashing down. Our lecture for the day consisted of triage and emergency nursing and different lessons in natural disaster relief. But all I could think of was the nurses, doctors, policemen, firemen, military (and all other civil servants) and their continued commitment to save lives. They continued to work (day in and day out) without breaks, meals, even rest to care for all those involved. And the sick continued to come.
We remember 9/11 and continue to ever thank all involved for their undoubted patriotic heroism. I am proud to say that I am an American and that we continue to live in a free country because of them.

Late night talks!

As I arrived home from work tonight (10:30ish), I was pleasantly surprised that my beautiful 2 year old was still awake awaiting for my arrival. And just like her mother and grandmother and great~grandmother have done for so many years, a late night chat and little snack were in order. So a Hagen's leftover submarine sandwich, a glass of warm milk, and a quick recap of the day is all it took for my little dolly to unwind and finally fall asleep.
I look forward to many late night chats with my girls and to carry on the tradition that has always been the right remedy for those nights you just couldn't sleep.

I'll miss you old yella...

...but don't you worry one bit because as soon as it is time again I will bring you out of hibernation (secret location) and once again we can be reunited when the rain is gone and the sun begins to shine (you know how it is in the pacific northwest). But for now, Labor Day is over...happy Fall and good bye to my favorite yellow accessory!!!!!

Lazy Day, Labor Day...

...well sort of! After having friends over on Saturday and friends over again on Sunday and hard core shopping for new kitchen appliances on Monday (so much for Labor Day sales, not), we were absolutely pooped and decided to spend the rest of the afternoon outside with Baxter and Ghosty!!

My ballerina girls!

My little ballerina girls had their first lesson this morning. Paige went first (Piper stayed to be the big helper) and then Piper went afterward while Paige and I ran errands! I am soooooo proud of my beautiful little swans!

First Crush!

This is the card the girls got yesterday from their new boyfriend Peter. They especially love it because they got to color the wiener dog with polka dots!
