flop or find???

Ever since I got my new bedroom suite, I have been desperately trying to find the perfect linens and draperies to go with. And for the past 3 weeks I have contemplated over a certain paisley pattered set, but never really ordered it~for some reason or another (the main reason...
having Chris intercept the package while I'm at work and send it back).
But to my surprise (and weekly run to TJ Maxx), I found a similar (Hotel brand) set for only $49...which included comforter, bed skirt, 2 shams, 4 drape panels, 4 tie backs, 4 valences, 2 euro shams, 2 decorative pillows, 1 flat sheet, 1 fitted sheet, and 2 pillow case!!!!!
The real question is...is this a GREAT find, or am I totally carried away with the price tag and actually bought a real flop??? BE HONEST, comments encouraged!!!

Missed out!

I should have some really fun pic's to share with you today of Chris and the girls in the lake yesterday (while I was "woooorking"~Paige), but Chris forgot to pack the camera. So, just like all of you...I am really bummed out! But be reassured that the three of them had a wonderful time in the nice COLD lake with friends!!!

Reinforcements!

The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree when it comes to 100 degree + weather outside, and 95 degree + weather inside! However, Chris said it would be inappropriate for me to "fan off" like our 2 year old!! So we instead took COLD showers and vegged out on the couch trying to survive the northwest heat wave (to continue through the weekend I heard) with too little reinforcements! My case for AC/heat pump is looking better and better every day!!!

endless hot summer days!

So here they are...both finished and ready for fun!!!
After many hot days and sleepless nights, we are finally able to say that our backyard "full of fun" is finished and ready for company (hence the girls on the doorstep trying to recruit friends to come over and play)!!! By the way, did I tell you it is 90 something degrees outside and supposed to break heat records this week!!

What a day!!!!!

It seemed like yesterday...

...when I got the phone call from the doctor that I was pregnant (850 miles away from Chris and eating Chinese food with my mom and friend Timbre)!
...that Chris had to leave work just a "little early" because of the life changing phone call I gave him!
...when the only other option for nausea relief was phenergan suppositories!
...when I almost broke the chair at work, and the physician sitting next to me thought I was going into labor.
...that I was told to go straight to the hospital (on my birthday) and we would have a new part of our family before the weekend was over (mind you, it was 4 weeks early and we didn't have a crib yet)!
...that I reached 209#'s and counting, and refused to get on the scale at the hospital after being admitted.
...when our beautiful baby daughter was born into this world.

Happy Birthday to:

Piper Ann Schweigert

It's my birthday!!!

Just a glimpse of some of the fun suprise birthday gifts I received today (and VERY late last night)!!!
1.) The birthday hat and pageant ribbon were from the girls and the trip we took to Claire's this afternoon (how sweet they thought of me, even in the midst of all the fun jewelry)!
2.) The beautiful floral arrangement Katie brought over.
3.)The fun necklace given to me by the cutest lady ever!

playground progress...

Believe it or not, we are not finished putting together the playground structure in the backyard. And just to clarify, there is also a wooden swing set over the fence in our neighbors yards, that you may mistake for being a part of our monstrosity!!! We have two more days (count them) until Piper's birthday, so we are kinda under the gun! Chris...no pressure!!!

painting rock hearts for Katie!

Yesterday on the girlies "nature walk" with Katie, they brought home two of the most perfect rock shaped hearts. And this morning they wanted to paint them and give them back to their favorite nanny of all time, KATIE!!!
Hope you like them!!!

Can't hardly wait!

While I continued to paint the playhouse (almost done, by the way), Chris and a couple of his buddies decided to go folfing (frisbee golf) this morning and to tackle the swing set (we bought for Pipers b-day) this afternoon!!! I think it was a little more than they bargained for because after hours of construction and nightfall quickly approaching, they were only able to put up the structure and attached the slide!! And boy do I really need to hand it to them, because this thing came in a million little pieces with a million little screws!! What great friends they must be!! The swings and infamous "horsey swing" will come later this week...before the big b-day Friday!! Hopefully many fun years and pictures of our new playground!!!

root beer floats!

What a great night for ice cream and root beer on the patio, except for the fact the Piper was obsessed that she couldn't drink "beer" (root beer). So she and Paige just ate the ice cream, and left the "beer drinking" to the boys!

I can't believe...

...it's been 6 years since we said i do (11 years together)!
...that we knew we were meant to be together at the tender age of 17 & 19 (we didn't get married then, just knew)!
...we've brought 2 beautiful children into this world together!
...have shared so many firsts: first car, first big move, first home, first job, etc... (and wouldn't change one memory)!
...that we are going to spend our anniversary tomorrow painting the playhouse!
...that no one thought we would make it...and look at us now, still driving each other crazy!

It's been a long road and a very fun ride from where we started! I continue to cherish every step we take together, and hope to spend the rest of my years falling deeper and deeper in love with you!! Chris, you are my first mate!!!

Take it inside!

Since it continues to rain outside (putting a damper on us finishing the playhouse), we had to take the painting inside....so that's exactly what we did..."sunset for two" on our fingers and toes!!!
Happy week and wishes for good painting weather!!!! :)

Remodeling the playhouse...part 1

Scraping and Priming

I never really noticed what an eyesore the green playhouse was until we started to remodel it, every single neighbor came out today with lots of encouraging words. Some that make the top of the list are:
"I was just hoping a strong gust of wind would just blow it down".
"It will be so nice once I can open up my blinds in the morning and not see the big green playhouse". "White primer sure beats the awful green color they painted on there before".

Stay tuned in upcoming weeks as we continue our quest not to be the neighbors with the awful playhouse!!!

Piper Lou Who

As most of you know Piper has always been real intrigued with Dr. Seuss. Ever since I can remember Chris would read her the ABC book, and as an infant she could recite it back~word for word!

The latest Seuss craze has been the movie "Horton Hears a Who" (Katie can so attest to this...I think they watch it everyday I go to work~poor Katie). And at Christmas time "The Grinch" can always be seen around the Schweigert house.

Today Piper woke up with the single most perfect curl...Just like Cindy Lou Who. Do you think there is a resemblance, minus the red bow of course???

Very very last laugh with the hotel furniture!

So in the infinite words of my 5 year old, "our hotel furniture doesn't fit"!!

Our anxiously awaited bedroom suite finally arrived yesterday, and to my surprise OUR measurements do not exactly match up with Costco's!! And so again, this experience solidifies to my husband that I cannot make HUGE financial decisions at 2am!!

Oh well, even though it is too big, it is still stinkin brand new and ALL mine!!!
